Sampson's Last Stand

Editor’s Note: I had just been finalizing this article when I listened to one of my good friend’s (Randy Maugans) broadcast by the name of “A Call To Arms”. He and co-host Sue Patterson have done a marvelous effort in explaining who believers are in the body of Christ and what they are called to do in the ministry of the Gospel… This broadcast is linked below which I consider a must listen. It will bless you. Scott

Sampson's Last Stand

We all start out pretty much like Samson did with a whole lot of vim, vigor, zest, and joie de vivre for life. Then something comes along and capsizes our forward momentum, our onward thrust. It could be dramatic or a series or processes of mistakes and/or setbacks. But the end result is always the same - chains (sin).

In the largely metaphor driven chronicle of Samson and his times; they beckon to a much earlier account where his overpowering strength prevailed but was only kept in check as it related to the secret of his strength which was his long hair that was symbolic and represented his inner relationship with the Lord. In essence, the Lord was his strength.

And when that relationship was literally cut short, by a beguiling serpent/scorpion in the form of a plan to get him to divulge his strength, he gave up his anointing... This is also on a personal level as it is universally in that the symbiotic political/religious relationship existed between the lords of the Philistines and Delilah. Much like it did between Pilate (Political) and Caiaphas (Religious) the only difference here was Jesus Christ who is the only true Anointed Word made flesh gave up his life for our sakes only to resurrect it three days later.

The Scorpions (politico) and Serpents (religious) have always been present all down throughout history. Even Jesus witnessed the money changers in His temple. Same story, you always have the combination or cast of two polemic players that come together and are joined at the hip in an uneasy alliance of politics and religion. Delilah in this case represented a woman who sold out for money to the political powers of her day (the Philistines). Also, look no further than Revelation 17 for a final codification of this basic tenet. Codification actually means to “arrange” or “systematize”. How interesting…

It's exactly the same today.

Even the 501c3's State Churches who constantly claim as justification Romans 13 as proof text are painfully myopic in their resolve but never realizing who the true church is. Not Church but church. They don't quite fully understand that to be part of that true church; that they are a peculiar people, a called out assembly (remnant), and to come out of "her" and not be unequally "yoked" with unbelievers (the State) or any of her syncretic contrivances. They are truly the "multitudes, multitudes" in the valley of decision. Eventually, they will finally wake up from their “blindness” and their hair (i.e. mantle of wisdom) will grow back and the powers that be will parade them before the world for all to see and jest at, and the whole house will come down...

Sound prophetic? It is.

They say history repeats itself. Well, so does the Bible which is God's Word. Except the world religious politico can't ever seem to get that admonition right.

Because in the end you only have the scorpions, serpents, and multitude and the remnant (that came out of the multitude).

Sampson's hair (mantle of wisdom) finally grew back. He made his last profession of faith. He made his last stand. The whole house came down.

Do you have the mantle represented as the strength and wisdom of the spiritual Samson not willing to let it be cut?

Or, will you stay in the house before it comes down?

Choose wisely.
