Breath mints & a good rant...

Well, believe it or not I finally found something that was made in the good ol' USA. I was in my favorite barber shop the other day and as I doled out my fractionalized reserve bank notes to pay for my Marine Corps style closely cropped baby skin around the ears and semi high & tight (the way I like it) haircut, I paid the barber and she offered me some breath mints. Very magnanimous of her being from Vietnam. How some things come full circle is truly amazing considering our involvement there in the 60's and early 70's. But, I couldn't help to be somewhat startled however, since right there on the top of the breath mint package was a large US American Flag. Different emotions coursed through my veins at that moment with the one being of immense pride for finally, FINALLY seeing something with an American proclamation that something existed in this country with an affirmation of the American spirit of hard work and genuine pride. And,,, at the same time absolutely, totally disgusted that the only thing I could remotely relate to American ingenuity was a lousy breath mint.

Ah, the bad taste that is in us all. To put it another way and in a much bigger picture, our once great noble and idealistic patriotic country has been reduced down to a fast food mentality where everything and everybody is disposable. For me it became painfully clear: America has now been unceremoniously reduced down to a cheap pathetic breath mint wrapper that had an American flag printed on its exterior. This particular breath mint was light weight, mildly sweet, and wrapped in plastic. How incredibly prophetic. Thinking back, this was the perfect metaphor for America. Disgusting but true.

Whatever happened to being the "salt of the earth" that the Word talks about? Oh, that's right - they got incorporated into denominational constructs with a license to do business. Not being able to see the forest for the trees, they blithely move about the land like automatons in pursuit of trying to establish Gods Kingdom on this earth in consonance with political action (not going to happen) or believing a priori that they will be "raptured"  before things go wrong (as if we weren't at that point NOW).   

Seems that we are to the point of a lost innocence that was replaced by the decayed reality of our mundane existence where to improve an impoverished taste in our mouth we needed to use a breath mint that was proudly made in America. Otherwise, possessing the humanoid structures that we have, we normally migrate over to the Wal-Mart and Target mega box stores like bovine cattle looking for a bargain amidst a cornucopia of products essentially made by people receiving slave-like wages who live in a predominately communist country were basic human rights are virtually non existent. Don't you want to run up to every politician you know and vigorously shake their hand for this opportunity? Just think of the opportunities for your children as they proudly procure products made in foreign lands by indentured factory workers...

Money it seems is the driving factor behind all the machinations of this global mindset where it just keeps getting re-consolidated up and up to fewer and fewer at the top of the pyramid. Kind of a prescient statement don't you think? But hardly one without validity. This economic curve has been going on for a LONG time. We just happen to be at the final paradigm of it all.  Free Trade, Globalization, Offshoring, & Outsourcing sure has benefited America all right - right down the drain... But that's OK, because voters will have the opportunity to vote for the "other" ping pong paddle (or paddles) this coming November.

Can you guess who the ball is that is being played in the middle that gets hit every time?

Just might be a good time to invest in something that will not diminish...

Because in the end, it will only come down to whose master a person has served (a) the ever emerging world government (b) the licensed corporate religious construct that rides on its back or, (c) the called out assembly who right now are in the wilderness (desert) with Jesus Christ as spiritual Israel. Only a third will come through the fire in the coming days. 

I don't know about you but, the first two kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
